19th National Conference Sydney, 7th – 9th March 2015

Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure along with Gai Shylan, the New South Wales state coordinator and Cheryl Kelly, the QLD state coordinator to invite you to attend the 19th National Otorhinolaryngology Head & Neck Nurses meeting and ASHONS 65th scientific meeting. These meetings are the culmination of the previous year planning along side our surgical colleagues; to delivery the latest developments in improved techniques, technology and treatments in our ENT world for our ENT patients. As nurse delegates we are privileged to benefit from the invited and keynotes speakers, and attend any of the surgical meeting sessions as part of our nurse’s registration.

As our meetings travel around our country it allows us all, a great opportunity to meet with fellow nurses and clinicians that are involved with our unique specialty. As president of the group I would like to extend this invitation to share with us all and be a special part of the ever-evolving technology and treatments. The theme for our 2015 meeting is EXCELLENCE & INNOVATION and as the conference convenors we will endeavour to offer a diverse mix of presentations by invited surgeons, key note speakers, nurses (both experienced and novice presenters), and our allied health partners with a range of topics and presentations that will be both scientific, current and holistic. By sharing this meeting we also have unlimited access to the largest ENT medical trade expo, program and social events with our surgical colleagues, held in Australia.

We will spend three exciting days at the REDFERN TECHNOLOGY PARK. This amazing building was built in 1887 and was used to build and maintain the 200 steam locomotives that were the backbone of the New South Wales industry. In July 2014 I took a special trip to see this incredible venue, and I think you will all be suitably impressed with not only the history and statue of the building but how funky the conversion has made this venue. It is only a 6 min train journey from central station, so making accommodation more affordable as there will be more choices.

The meeting days will be Saturday 7th, Sunday 8th & Monday 9th March 2015. We will endeavour to commence the mornings around 9am to allow time to come from the city. There will be busses also available to do pick-ups from the “conference” hotels. We will also endeavour to commence the day with our medical trade partners with a breakfast sessions or two.

The Welcome Reception will take place on Friday 6th March 2015 in the city at the Museum of Contempory Art. The Gala dinner will be held at the BIG TOP in Luna Park on the Sunday night.
I would like to encourage and welcome you to start planning to attend, what we hope to be an exciting and stimulaitng meeting. Whatever your interests, there is something for you…. Your contribution will ensure OHNNG’s objectives are met, and by attending all allocated sessions for this 3-day event you will accrue 21 CNE points.

It is our objective that you all return to your work environments with extended knowledge, something for you to try or research, many new friends found and old friends reacquainted. May this conference meet all your expectations. So please start planning your leave, saving your pennies and I hope to see you all in Sydney next March.
