Dr Kriti Kauri

TOPIC : Oral health care and head and neck cancer

Dr Kaura doing her post grad training in Special Needs Dentistry from Adelaide Dental Hospital, providing oral healthcare to people with disability, psychiatric conditions, and complex medical conditions such as cancers.

Kriti currently provides oral healthcare for patients at Special Needs Unit in Adelaide Dental Hospital, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Women and Childrens hospital in South Australia. Kriti gained her dentistry qualification in India. She moved to Australia in 2010 and pursued a Master of Public Health with a major in epidemiology and biostatistics.
After qualifying the Australian Dental Council exam in 2013, Kriti worked as a general dentist for Dental Health services in WA in various settings.

In 2021 Kriti was offered the role of a special needs dentist in the maxillofacial unit in Fiona Stanley Hospital, where she looked after Head and Neck cancer patients in WA for two years when she decided to specialise in the field.

Kriti is passionate about all aspects of Special Needs Dentistry, with a particular focus on patients with medical complexities, as well as head and neck cancer care. Kriti is involved with oral care of head and neck cancer patients pre, during and post head and neck cancer treatment.

Kriti moved with her family to Adelaide in 2023 to gain the specialist qualification and is now in her second year of training. Her research thesis aims to investigate the role of dental practitioners in the head and neck cancer multidisciplinary team in the Australian Hospital system.
