TOPIC : A New Llaryngectomee
Dr Rob Thornton PhD, a former registered nurse now practicing as a gerontologist, has studied, and worked in the health field for five decades while employed as a clinician, educator, administrator and an academic. He has worked in four states across Australia and in Japan during that time. He retired in 2011.
On November 18 2021 he underwent a total pharyngolaryngectomy and was discharged 7 weeks later, after a few complications including a code blue without a voice prothesis. His paper today will address his experiences both high and low about going home with a lary.
P.S. Rob is a non-smoker and drinks very little alcohol.
