PRESIDENTS REPORT - 2025

2025 has been an outstanding year for OHNNG, marked by strong engagement, high-quality education, and a continued commitment to excellence in nursing practice. Our education days and annual conference once again demonstrated the passion, resilience, and professionalism that define our nursing community.

Our 28th annual Conference, held in Sydney in conjunction with our surgical colleagues, was a major highlight of the year. It brought together nurses from across the country and abroad to share knowledge, build connections, and celebrate the incredible work being done in our specialty. The calibre of presentations, the enthusiasm of attendees, and the collaborative atmosphere made this event a resounding success.

We were also proud to deliver study days in Melbourne, and Townsville as well as support some of our colleagues in Newcastle.

Both events were well attended and provided valuable, practical education that participants could immediately apply in their clinical practice. These study days reinforced OHNNG’s commitment to accessible, high-quality professional development across Australia.

As we reflect on this year, it is also important to recognise just how far nursing has come. The profession continues to evolve, demonstrating leadership, innovation, and adaptability in an ever-changing healthcare environment. Our members exemplify excellence in patient care, advocacy, and lifelong learning, and it is inspiring to witness the impact nurses continue to make every day.

A special highlight of 2025 was the presentation of Nursing Excellence Award to Tracey Nicholls by the Australian and New Zealand Had & Neck Cancer Society. Tracey’s dedication, leadership, and significant contributions to our profession and to OHNNG have been exceptional. This recognition was both well-deserved and warmly celebrated by our members.

On behalf of OHNNG, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to ASOHNS and our sponsors, whose ongoing support makes our education and events possible. We acknowledge GSK and Smith & Nephew for their continued commitment and partnership. Your support plays a vital role in helping us deliver high-quality education and foster professional growth within our nursing community.

Looking ahead, we are excited to invite you to our 29th Annual Conference, held in March 20-21st 2026 in Hobart, Tasmania. We look forward to coming together again in a beautiful location to continue learning, connecting, and celebrating our profession.

Warm Regards,

Marin Duvnjak
